I just purchased an Oppo 980 and am very pleased with it. I have a small, modest setup in my TV room where I run the Oppo (used as a CD source) into an amp through the audio outputs on the back. I use the HDMI cable from the unit into my TV for DVD playback. Simplicity is the desired goal here and the Oppo is perfect.
