Hey guys I haven't kept up with whats good in this part of audio for a while but my old cd changer is giving out after ten years service and I need something new.

I can't spend more than 100 bucks and for the moment all I have are a pair of Cerwin-Vegas and a decent JVC amp so what do you recomend?

I plan to get some Axioms as soon as possible but the DVD (or CD) comes first because my speaker still work fine.

Question one... Is it better to get a CD or DVD?

Question two... I really want a 5 changer but I've heard that the downside on those is bad jitter and the like.

Lastly I want somethin with an optical out.

Thanks to all for the help.

Sorry, missed this thread.   Pioneer makes some very good players on the cheap.  I can't recall the new model numbers, but they make a couple nice machines under $100.  For just over $120 you can get a universal player from them, too.

Thanks Rob and Cornell.  The Toshiba doesn't look half bad.
Is this the Pioneer you were talking about Rob Pioneer DV-588A-S DVD?

I'd like to pick a cheap 5 disc dvd changer w/ digital out to to use with an outboard dac strictly for music . Would I be able to get decent sound with this combo ? Any recommendations  ? I've seen a Sony for about $130 .
