MTB Vince, An Introduction...
« on: 6 Feb 2021, 03:42 am »
Hey gang,

I'm Vince a keen audio and videophile in Southern Ontario. I caught the affliction in my early teens 40+ years ago and I think at this point it's safe to say there is no cure for it. In any event I belong to most of the other "serious" audio forums in the English speaking world. I'm not really sure why it took so long for me to register here but here I am.

Here is a few more pics of my big rig, a combined music and cinema system in a dedicated 20x14x11' room. The system features two completely separate stereo & multi-channel source and preamp front ends. Only the active LH & RH front loudspeakers and the subwoofer array are shared.

And the business end of a secondary system in the common area of our loft.

  • To whom more was given more will be required.
    • Never go to a psychiatrist, adopt a straycat or dog. On the street they live only two years average.

Welcome!

I'm from Michigan and been into audio for 40+ years too, so not that far away on a couple of fronts.  Am also a fan of active loudspeakers and have a similarly shaped/treated room.  What brand/model of actives are those?

I apologize for the tardy reply @JLM. I just noticed your query. The "big rig" in our acoustically treated, dedicated room uses five identical ATC SCM20ASL Pro Mk II active monitors for the bed loudspeakers and four ceiling mounted ATC SCM 12i passive monitors driven by a pair of Meridian 557 power amps for immersive audio. The four identical subwoofers seen in pairs at the front and rear walls are the Seaton Submersive HP.

The second system in our wide open loft space makes use of a bunch of aging but well cared for Meridian actives. The front channels seen in the pic beneath the plasma TV and whimsical paintings are a pair of Meridian M100 and an M20 as center channel. Not seen are the pair of stand mounted M3 used as surrounds in this 5.0 system.
