The volume buttons have become a bit unresponsive on my PLC-1 remote control so I was going to open and clean it. But that wasn't easy without using serious force and maybe destroying it in the attempt, or is there a trick to it that I haven't seen?

The remotes aren't meant to be taken apart... did you spill something on it?
