Not trying to threadjack, but what exactly is TED?  I stopped watching tv a while back & mainly stream documentaries through Netflix.  TED has dozens of difft educational & thought provoking videos & discussions.

Femto photography is probably the most visually appealing one i've seen though, very cool.

One of my friends actually is a speaker on one of these, but I haven't watched it yet.

TED is an innovation conference. They distribute videos of some of the more interesting speakers.

If the group finds the fast-camera interesting, you might want to check out this article:

It's about a fellow who makes pinhole camera prints with one-year exposures.

My community has a photography institute and recently did a workshop on colloidian prints, a form of archaic image making. A presentation by the visiting artist was fascinating.

Bob,
That was so amazing.  I have sent this to quite a few folks, including all three of my boys (2 in college).

I remember seeing a TED presentation a few years ago, about a group at MIT who took available technology and made a portable smartphone that would blow youa way....projector, scanner, text reader, etc.  If I find it I will post...even though it is a couple years old.

here it is...SixthSense

On Computer Audiophile we have started a thread called favorite TED presentations.  There are some very creative and thought provoking ones.
