Network/server connect problems on Internet TV
« on: 9 Apr 2011, 02:54 pm »
I have the internet ready TV. I want Netflix streaming.
I cannot for 2 days connect because of "Service is unavailable due to network interference" WTF!
Who is involved, Samsung it's a Samsung TV, Time Warner, what network? Where's the server?
Most of the time it clears up and connects late but usually like 11:30 last night.
What junk is this? Any info on this?

I would say the cable company would be the first place to start - assuming that you know that your TV is connecting correctly at least back to your router for IP assignment.

It is. I have used Hulu and Vodo.

I will have to give TW a call.
Thanks!

I can't be sure who is to blame for your trouble but I do have a suggestion.  When configuring networks for such dual use it is best to set up a DHCP pool of IP addresses that your computers and other wireless devices can use easily then statically assign any video and audio equipment.  This way they are not having to renew a lease on an IP every time you turn the device on.  Sounds like this is kinda where Brian was going with his post.  I'm sure that someone here will have your same router and be able to help you with these settings.

You can try using Google's DNS server (8.8.8.8)   Since i've made the switch i haven't had a 'service is unavailable' message on the apple tv (gen2).

Get a Roku box. Works great. I've had mine for about two years.

Only way to go!!! It's built on the KISS theory. "Keep it simple stupid"

I ordered a Roku and it worked for about two weeks then Kaput! I spent probably a total of 8 hours talking to their customer service people in India with no resolution. I sent it back. Never again. I do have to say that I do have a friend who is very happy with his. Go figure.

I have the same problem occasionally. It's Netflix. It seems to due it on high traffic hours. All I do is close the Netflix browser and restart the program and that works for me every time. I have a Sony though.  :dunno:

Not Netflix here. It will work every time if I re-enter the Router password.
I found this out last night.
The error message "Service is unavailable due to network interference"  is erroneous and misleading. So,  the problem is it not retaining the password for the Router. It's a PIA to retype that in every time to connect.
We'll see how the Roku box works out. If it does not that will go back.
I'm taking back to BB the Wireless dongle today. There is a newer version out there.

Thanks for the comments and the help!!!

Update. This is fixed now.
I returned/ replaced the Samsung Link Stick at BB.
All is well with the new one since I installed it.

RoKu will be here later in the week.

So much for Ruku.

The unit would connect but not "authenticate". Conversed with someone in Zimbabwe (HA!) and they screwed up my whole Router settings.
Hell, I know networks better than they do. :wtf:

It's going back tomorrow.
My "Link Stick" is working fine now.

Case closed.
