Keeping Doby Digital AC3 laser disc
« on: 28 Feb 2010, 10:33 pm »
Hi everyone,

I have an extensive laser disc collection and I recently upgraded my receiver that does not have a AC3 input. Does anyone have any suggestions as to how to decode the signal and send it to my receiver? Should I purchase an older DAC with AC3 input and a digital out sent to my receiver? Thanks for your input and suggestions.

Cheers ~

You need an RF demodulator

You can search E-Bay or other places.  I have a Lexicon in the main system and a Yamaha in the basement system.  A bunch of cos. made them (B&K, Pioneer, etc.)

Here's an Audiogon ad that includes a player, discs and a (Kenwood) demodulator  http://www.audiogon.com/cgi-bin/cls.pl?homevdeo&1270775467&/Panasonic-LX-H680-LaserDisc-pl

PS - not exactly sure where you are in CA (big state) but the Audiogon ad is for units in CA and it has been sitting for 21 days and perhaps the seller is motivated to get rid of them.
