Some years a go I started using a big 300ml mug but in the winter the coffee cools too fast, so I changed to a smaller 200ml ceramic mug that I had stored in the 1980s and forgotten, so this was the right size to drink a hot coffee.
Wonder what mug are your favorite?
-
I rotate a couple yeti cups. Keeps the coffee hot for hours if I needed it to, but it rarely lasts that long before I drink it.
-
I use one that holds coffee and tea.
-
Just started using a Bodum cup. These cups keep coffee or tea hot as long as a yeti.

Nothing fancy
Just whatever mug is clean.
I have mugs at home and work. Pretty much a steady flow of mud all day.

Ello Jones 11oz Stainless Steel Travel Mug. Perfect for my 12-ounce coffee.

My SB Roasting daily mug and 3oz Black Cat Project Demitasse. I love making my own Intelligentsia Angelenos (4 espresso shots, milk, agave and ice cubes shaken) or enjoying a shot of espresso (Intelligentsia Black Cat, Blue Bottle Hayes Valley, or Philz Tesora, Silken Splendor, etc.)

I don’t drink coffee, but have an addiction to tea. I use a humble 12 ounce mug that I got at a nearby Toyota dealer when I bought one of their vehicles.

my niece is a potter, so I have many to choose from, but I agree no bigger than 12 oz to keep it hot.
-
Expensive, but very solid and used every day.
I microwave it for 99 seconds on high to keep it from cooling the coffee. Holds 12 oz. to the rim, but I only fill it 2/3.

The cup of the season. My wife loves to put out Christmas mugs, Thanksgiving mugs, Valentine's Day mugs, and 4th of July mugs. I also have an every day mug thrown to lean left when you look at the donkey motif.
Then there's the souvenir mugs.... Maine lobster, Yellowstone, Kilimanjaro, Vienna...

The heavy, old fashioned 14 oz KXCI mug is for the morning. The Kalita filter is first rinsed with boiling water, which warms the cup.
If you see the moose cup on the counter top you know I've been into the whiskey.

Some fun cups I found on Etsy. They're not the best for heat retention but they make me giggle

I’m often on the go , my go to for years is the Contigo in purple

My challenge is using a cup that does not retain heat. Good coffee gets better as it cools. I have a yeti but don't put the lid on.

My wise-ass daughter gave me this for Christmas couple years ago. I use it every day. :thumb:

I usually choose between these three hand made mugs. The tree mug is from Oak Ridge, TN, circa 1994. others from local street fair. They won’t hold coffee; cocoa or tea only. Should have rotate the handle on the left hand one; it is a tentacle.

There are a couple of other day of the week mugs but today is Tuesday so it’s ASP.

This is one of my favourites. Locally made at Mudgee - one of the newer culinary and wine making regions of New South Wales in Australia. That's about 4 hours northwest of Sydney, and quite a popular weekend destination.
Quite uniquely it has a thumb rest and the contour of the mug fits nicely into the palm.
I apologise - try as I have, the image comes out sideways. I have tried saving it with a counter orientation and uploading that image but no dice. I thought we might be upside down from the Southern Hemisphere to you guys, not sideways!

Thanks guys for your nice photos. :thumb:
Iam using this simple unbranded 200ml mug that I have bought in the 1980s it appear to be ceramic, I have used it some time at those times and last year I went back to use it again when the big porcelain cup I was using started to crack, I noted this old 200ml mug never cracked as the news I have now.

Well I've very recently changed mugs because of a nice Christmas present from my wonderful brother. Namely the Nextmug from a company called Nextboom, a battery operated heated mug with a docking coaster. Not sure if I like it better than my Yeti, but I'll be testing it throughout the holiday season anyway. Which I could do better if I hadn't messed up the charging last night, duh, being old sucks sometimes.

(Well not the actual one.) Tip: fill with boiling water before putting the coffee in!

Something my mother taught me or do prior to steeping tea.
My well worn Wed mug.

Hey!

I like coffee and tea. Here's my little mugs collection. I use the first three mugs from the left after the big white pot the most.

Lost and Found.
Have stored this nice mug in the 1990s and just found it again.

Just decided to make one last week. Turns out my vinyl cutter and a sharpie can make all sorts of ridiculousness.

Sorry, I need more detailed instructions (I have no idea where to find those options).
PS - I fumbled around in my Gallery and found an option to rotate the image, but when I try to put the updated image in the post it still ends up sideways (I hate computers!). :cuss:

In my experience it will need reboot your browser.

Still not working. Oh well, it’s not worth all this hassle. I appreciate you trying to help. :D

I dropped my previous coffee cup (https://www.audiocircle.com/index.php?topic=184074.msg1932157#msg1932157) on the granite countertop and broke off the handle. I glued it back together, but now I only use it for special occasions.
My daughter gave me another one last Christmas that has taken over primary duty:

If I can keep it from breaking, I intend to someday give it to her newlywed husband, with the "DAD" part crossed out and his name written in.

This thread has given me some mug envy.
My java setup. Middle cup is my daily driver a 16 oz ceramic. I like'em tall and thin.... so they fit in a car cup holder. Spouses mug is on right, ceramic with faux aluminum cup look. Beatle Seargeant Pepper's mug is for show as this is an audio forum.

Gave up coffee, so no mug anymore....

Have bought this 250ml mug recently, only bought because it was heavier than the others of the same type, feels quite robust.

I never drank any coffee, but I think the best mug to use is a clean one.
-
I would prefer a dirty porcelain mug to a clean aluminum cup, and now they are making frying pans of titanium, a non-stick metal, far more toxic than aluminum.
-
I have been using the classic French style coffee cup used in so many restaurants for more than three decades. Typically never makes it to even warm before it's gone.

But thanks to this thread, and my fellow coffeephiles, I just ordered a set of the Bodum double-wall glass mugs. Thanks for helping me spend my money once again.

A gift from a student that I helped with his college application. He did alright for a kid from a small West Texas high school.

A new one I picked up a short while ago. Red Leaf Coffee is a local spot just up the road that started as a tiny little drive up stand. Inside the cup is some good Water Ave dark roast who is also local just down in Portland. It's a good morning. :thumb:

At a coffee shop thought I’d share anyway.

How does that compare to your home setup?
-
My setup is geared more towards straight espresso/ristretto and I dont practice making cappuccino. I will say that this place (Steam) on Pearl st makes the best Cappuccino I’ve had period. I don’t go there often but I went for a drive today with the dog and ended up there. :green:

I feel the same way about boba and Happy Lemon - anytime I drive that way, I'm stopping in :D
