LGK 2.2 Center channel a good match for NX Oticas?
« on: 13 Mar 2024, 07:10 pm »
The NX Otica center channel is just too big for what I need. I currently am using Chane A2.4/A1.4 for HT duty but will probably ditch the A1.4s as LRs and use my Otticas there once they are finished. The Chane uses a planar tweeter so I'm wondering if it will be a better match to stick with that? I'm sure the LGK is overall a better speaker but might not be as good of a match for home theater. Thoughts?

The 2.2 does have a wide dispersion that makes them ideal for on/off axis, but it's also about 7-8dB less efficient at 86dB vs 93-94dB so you will need to boost them a fair bit to match the output of the Otica.

The larger X-Voce and X-CS models are more efficient at 90dB, but their off-axis performance isn't as good, due to the higher crossover between the tweeter & mid-woofers.
The mid range of the X-Voce will be more similar to the NX-Otica as they are also open-baffle.
If Efficiency/tone matching is more important then I would go with the X-Voce.
If Off-axis performance is more important, then I would go with the 2.2.
