Wall Mount?
« on: 29 Oct 2015, 09:59 pm »
Hi guys,

I need a wall mount, articulating, that extends beyond 23". Basically I have a hole for a CRT TV at 23-23.5 inches. Right now the TV (vizio sony) is on a stand and sitting right outside of this. But I'd like to make it more secure and gain a little better tilt on it.

I was looking at Wall Mount World, but I haven't a clue if they're reputable. The problem with looking on other websites is they don't tell you or won't let you search for depth.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Monoprice has some of these.  I never used them, though.

If you go to shop categories, they also have tilt models.

A hole for a CRT TV? Could you provide a picture of the location? Trying to understand the issue.

I'm a custom integrator so I have used several and this one http://www.skywalker.com/Products/Royal-Mounts-Universal-Articulating-Mount-with-Dual-Arms-for-Large-42-90in-displays__ROY6607B.aspx is my "go to" motion mount.  If you have a local integrator that you work through to get you this mount I do suggest this product.  It is solid and heavy so having the display extended beyond 23 inches is no sweat for it.  Max extension is 30 inches and it supports 42 to 90 inch displays.  If you run out of options then PM me and I can help you out.

Might be simpler and cheaper to frame in some supports and use a traditional mount.

The tv when mounted would cover the DIY solution "in the hole".

Yes and no.

I'd have to move the electrical forward if I made another wall in it. And the receiver sits inside the hole, so I'm more interested in the mount.

I'm not sure I know any installers (in town), but I'll think on it. (I did just move)

I'm sure there are many and other sources (besides CEDIA) to find someone.  If you increase the distance to 50 miles, I get two from CEDIA:

I've been to the One Call website before if that is affiliated with Huppins - http://onecall.com/

If you go to Yelp you can find more as well:

Understood about the complications if you built in a whole wall.

I was just envisioning a 2x6 attached in a place that you could "mount a mount" on - boy that sounds odd to say out loud!

Perhaps the other "pro" solutions are in fact worth the $ and effort for your specific application.

Good luck, sounds like a cool project.

In my old place I had a 55 inch backlit LED held up by an articulating bracket I got at Costco (they usually have a few in the store and then more online - http://www.costco.com/tv-mounts.html).  The TV was heavy so I needed help.  Actually once we got it up we needed another person to just push it into place.  I also had another TV mounted above a fireplace in the kitchen.  I don't know if I would do another wall mount (especially given how thin current TVs are) vs. attaching a secure shelf at the proper height.  Pics of my old house below.
