You might want to ask Kristin about changing out the umbilical. Or maybe someone might chime in for another direction.

Another good rectifier is the UNITED USAF 596 Rectifier tube w/ adaptor.

I just shipped mine out today.  The sound on the stock unit was becoming fatiguing and after a few emails back and forth I took the plunge.  I went with the Audio Magic upgrade and the princess cut.  I'll most likely break the the unit in using the stock tubes and then start fooling around.

I found new old stock Mullards to sound the best, both in the power supply and DAC..  I have a late 50's Mullard GZ34 fat base in the power supply, late 60's  6922 in the 205.. I tried 4 other expensive pairs , the most expensive Amperex pinch waist that cost as much as $600 if you can find them, and still the Mullards sounded better to me.. Amperex super detailed but the Mullards was more musical to me and more analog sounding.. I've tried the Phillips ( Holland ) 5R4GY, Mullard better..

I am using RTC E188CC tubes in the main unit and a Sophia Electric 274B mesh plate for the rectifier. They also have an "aqua" 274B for $10 cheaper, that has received favorable reviews.

Gents,

The experiences you've had with the tubes you've used are valuable to me.  Thank you for posting.
