When I buy parts to build these things it amazes me how expensive it is to buy them in the small quantities that I deal with,

Some ic's are $10+ easily, parts like resistors are pretty cheap, electrolytic caps are costly as well, add the power transformer $$$$, a case $$$$$, panel engraving $$$$$$$$$$$$$$ an amp like the inverting O2 when done is easily $150 - $200.....

But you can't go out and just buy one readily....especially if its a one off design. Which makes them very desirable to a guy like me!!! LOL!

You can always have someone build you a coffin with a built-in stereo..... so, yes you can!

Hey I started this thread in Headphone Mania Circle but thought that the Lab might be a better place for DIY projects.

I have built many headphone amps and other electronics gear both audio, receviers, liner amps etc..

I hope someone out there might build one of these inverting types of the O2 head amp.

Pictures of the assembly going into the case....

Front panel and rear panel are yet to be crafted!!






Rear heatsinks will be removed and ICs mounted directly to the back panel.
They will be electrically isolated for a star ground to be implemented and elimnate any ground loops/issues.

Rear panel is done and I should have the front panel delivered this monday and I will post final pictures so far its coming out very nicely!

The front panel arrived a few minutes ago, engraved nicely from Front Panel Express.

The inverting type of O2 amp is complete and the project thanks to AGDR went smoothly and sounds GREAT!!

Its really not that hard....common sense and patience.

The hard part is when you turn it on and it doenst work....then it can get very bothersome!!

I only pick things that I think I have a 90% chance of having it work correct the first time and have a group of
experts that I can pick their brains if something goes wrong..

AGDR is one of these guys...an excellent source of knowledge and electronics and design....

Yes I probably could, but my relationship and respect for AGDR means a lot to me.....

If this was a commercial venture or a kit I would definetly have a more meaningful name! LOL.

It is AGDR's inverting version of the O2 amp....good or bad!

I was selling this amp for the past few months, thinning the heard. so to speak...sold a few other amps.

For some reason this one never sold.....I think its divine intervention!

I got tired of bumping it up for viisbility!!

So this am I withdrew it after listening to it with the HD600's, never listened to them with this particular amp...
Listened with the 600's with Schitt Vahalla2, BH Crack and BH Mainline and they sound great..

But with the Inverting design by AGDR they are spectacular!!..Wow what a nice pairing...

So in the end of it all I am GLAD it never sold!!
