Question on Phono 1
« on: 14 Feb 2010, 03:55 pm »
Guys, I am in the market for a new phono stage. My current system is an LP-12/Ekos/Dynavector 10x5 going thru the MM phono stage of my Exposure 3010 and then into a Leben CS300XS integrated. I don't need two integrateds and wanted a standalone phono stage. My budget was going to be about $600 for a used unit, but then I saw this one for only $300. I have a couple of questions for those of you that have tried out the MM version. Things like imaging and soundstage are not quite as important to me as liveliness and tonality. The Leben is quite lively, but is a touch bright (uses EL-84s). I wanted a phono stage that keeps the liveliness, but is not thin or lean sounding, something with a little body to it. Does the Phono 1 kind of fit the bill?

Thanks,
Mike

Been listening to mine for months -- not tired of it yet.  For me, that says a lot.  Most gear usually just visits and does not become a part of the family!
