A couple of images from yesterday's trip to the Georgia Aquarium:

All with my Canon A630, no flash either hand-held or braced against a railing.

And one from the World of CocaCola

Whoah!  What is that?

Looks like a Mini Me dinosaur whose mother had sex with a plant.

Phyllopteryx taeniolatus.

Very nice shots, tough to do w/ no flash!

Cool creature!  That shot is better than most of the others out there.  I'd suggest adding it to Wikipedia.

Thanks for the compliments.  Most of the fish were impossible to photograph well because they were continuously moving.  Luckily, the Seadragon just sat there at the edge of the tank.

Somewhere in this creek is a rear element lens cap for a Nikkor 65mm ƒ4.  Doh! :duh: This particular one was shot with the 90, though.  Note to self: put reflective tape on black things that can be dropped.  I even took drphoto's 210mm Fuji with me on this outing for a change which was similarly dropped onto large, impervious boulders and washed downstream.  Just kidding, it's fine! :P  Those shots are on color film though, will have to wait and see how badly I misjudged the exposure on those.  It would seem my meter battery died.  Damn.

Wow...is this the magic of film, or the magic of Nathan?  :thumb:

Not magic—art and science!  :)  I like to think it's the two T's.  Or, I stole this image from someone else and passed it off as my own.  What a jerk!

I never thought I would be one of those guys who photograph girls at the beach......
It was actually very hard to focus as I couldn't see anything through the viewer as I was looking directly into the sun. I had many out of focus shots.
Shot:
40D
24-70 2.8
1x 300W battery powered flash unit

Having just learned how to do this photo posting bit, here is a photo of the Star of India that my wife took in San Diego - where it is docked - several years ago.

This was scanned from a slide and I believe it has minimal photo shop post processing treatment. Nikon N90s with a Nikkor 20mm lens.

Thanks.  This aquarium makes it easy since the large tank has a 60'x20' window (that is 2' thick).  There is also a railing facing it that I could use to steady the camera.

You guys need some Sonoran desert pictures to balance all the water and beach pictures. :D
Please be gentle, I'm nowhere near most of your talents...

Taken with an XTi and an EF-S 10-22mm f/3.5-4.5 lens (ISO 100 f/3.5 1/60s 10mm) with a cheapo polarizing filter.
I need to buy the real stuff... Any suggestions?
I'm looking into this:
