Hi Jon L,
I love those long exposure night pictures.
I did a few myself, (Long, long time ago)
but they are far from being as good as yours.
Thanks for sharing.

Spectacular shots!  What lens did you use to capture those?  I'm guessing you were a lot further away than it looks?

Thanks ACHiPo!

Yea, I was just under 9 feet away from the dragonflies. Much closer and they scare, and therefore fly away, easily. The photos were shot with a Tamron 150-600mm lens at between 550-600mm on a full-frame camera.

Yea... tell me about it. It's a recent acquisition, and I'm both learning to use it and getting used to it. It's big and heavy (almost 4 ½ pounds), but it gives a reach that I never had before.
So far, I'm very impressed with the lens. The focus is fast, and the lens is sharp. It comes in Nikon, Canon and Sony mounts and is stabilized, which certainly helps
in handheld situations. The lens has gotten great reviews, and it's lots of fun. More info and specs here: http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1013959-REG/tamron_a011_s_sp_150_600mm_f_5_6_3_di.html

This is my feeble attempt at taking some 4th of July fireworks pictures right behind my apartment complex.
These shots were taken with a mirrorless camera that I recently purchased. I’m still trying to get used to all
the controls.. I don’t think my exposures was long enough at 4 seconds..

Brooklyn, those two pictures of the 4th of July fireworks are really nice.  :thumb:
In the past I did lots of fireworks pictures
and my exposure time (100 ISO) was between 2-4 seconds.
By the way, just a constructive criticism:
You've cropped too tight, I mean, the top of the fireworks is chopped off.
Next year, your 4th of July fireworks pictures will be perfect
instead of very good.

If the Vietnamese Internet connection does it's job like it's supposed to do,
you will see a few night - long exposure pictures.
Picture of the day, is now for this post only:
'' Picture of YESTER day, since those were taken many moons ago.
(Excuse the poor quality of those scanned prints...)

I like your shots too Guy, very nice.. The shots I took are definitely cropped to tight
but they were a couple of the nicer ones as far as content and exposure.

Oregon Coast. Oh, how I love thee!

Thank you, Chip!

No problem - plenty to shoot just not enough time to adventure out lately.
