I looked up the hiil at my barn this morning and caught a glimpse of this(very) newborn fawn and its mother.

Based on its instability when it walked, I'd say it was less than a day old. Probably born last night sometime. I'm kinda surprised the doe didn't charge me. Then again, I was about 50 yards away when I shot this.

Scott,  Great picture.  You captured the unsteadiness of the fawn. I could see that even before I read your description.

Nice one Scott, as Bob said they don't get small than that. Couple days old?

Just returned from taking a group of kids to United States Capital - Washington D.C. There is so much to see and experience there, and it was great for the kids to learn more about the country's origins, history and operations. Washington really requires several trips to take it all in. Each one of the museums is an education unto itself.

Here's two images that seemed rather poignant, particularly at this time in both the US and World Affairs:

1) "Freedom Is Not Free" - Korean War Memorial - Freedom is definitely not free and has never been. It comes with great costs. Countless have persevered and sacrificed to provide for it... here and everywhere.

2) America Divided - A bus banner driving by the Lincoln Memorial. Certainly during President Lincoln's time it was so, and now, the United States struggles with extremely important issues that divide it as well.

Here's another one from the Washington D.C. trip. The corner of the Lincoln Memorial, in black & white, on a blustery day. Wide angle 17mm.

Talk about camouflage! A green Dragonfly on a green leaf inside of green foliage. It's a wonder I even saw him. Wow... it's hot out today!

These guys are back!  :o  The Snowberry Clearwing Moth aka Hummingbird Moth. This particular variety is only about 2" long. Their "tongues" (proboscises)  are just about longer than their bodies!
