While not as dreamie as your image I was on a short hike this past weekend. I made a lot of "drive by" shots and this shot reminded me of your image....

I was hiking so wasnt paying attention to settings but this is at ISO 640. 20mm @ f.2.8, D700

Hi all Audio Circle members.

Duck transport. Kwack, wwack, kwack...

Here recycling is big business for the poor people that cannot do anything else, because they don't have high school degree.
Their only investment is a bicycle and I good voice to shout...
This guy must be doing good, because he's got a motorcycle, old one, but still.

The Blue

...

Hey!

Good catch of the bird. :D But something doesn't look right with the high light of the reflection on the water.

Take care,
Buddy :thumb:

While it doesn't look "correct", in the truest sense of real life, I do very much like the effect.  :thumb:

Looks a lot like Fuji Velvia slide film slightly underexposed.  Lots of contrast and saturation.  :thumb:

The very low-angle evening/morning light is coming from  the left, and  the water is probably reflecting a darker part of the sky.  Maybe a CPOL filter to add to the effect?

Either way, tremendous impact!

Good catch Bob.
I did notice that the rocks have shadows, but the bird does not.

Does too!

The bird is taller and shadow of its body is way over to the right.  Legs are too spindly to throw much of a shadow.

Mmmmm.....not sure I'd call that a shadow. My eyes aren't that great so I could be wrong.
Although you are substantially older than I am, so it might be your vision that's the issue.
Either way, I think it's a great image.

Bob

My eyes and ears have many more years of training and practice than do yours.    Maybe in another 20 years you'll have exceptional vision and hearing, too.  And you might even be better looking.

We all know it can't get any worse........... :thumb:

...for all you curious ones go to the full size version of JonL's "The Blue" image :
-click on EOSD3469 text link below the photo
-Then click the three dots in bottom right
-Then click image sizes - go to Original

It has been my experience that it is very rare to have a shadow cast onto a reflective surface unless there is a stronger light source than the main. hard to overpower the Sun ;)

Pay up, BISL!  The bird's shadow is right where it's supposed to be.   NYAH, NYAH, NYAH!

I'll take my payment in some of the food you cook out in the yard. :notworthy:

You guys are nuts!  I was shooting that day from very far, with 70-200 with 2x TC on, and even then, the photo had to be cropped liberally.  I couldn't make out shadows from gorillas if my life depended on it  :duh:

Same day with just a puff of daylight left..

Mount Tamalpais, Northern California, around 2pm. Yep foggy in Summer!

I am learning that the images from Flickr look much better after clicking on the image (like JonL's recent photo). anyway wanted to share the magic of a foggy afternoon in Northern California.
