WHERE?  WHEN?    :thumb:

Sponsored by WSIU Radio/Television every September at the Carbondale Mall. Maybe I should send out an announcement next year to the GASers.   Maybe we could coordinate it with a GTG.

Can anyone identify this bird?  It was hanging out in the large cedar tree in my yard. The tree is a popular hangout for birds of prey.  I have hosted black-shouldered kites, red-tailed hawks, owls, and snowy egrets. I don't recognize this bird.  It was much larger than other hawks I have seen.  When it took flight it was slow to start and had a large wing span.  I once saw a large, hawk-like bird pull a salmon from the river near me but I don't remember the coloration. This bird does not match osprey pictures I just checked.

Where was it shot?

It might be a big-assed hawk. It had a serious wing span and I could hear the wings beating as it took off.  Definitely designed to lift a hapless load (lunch). It seemed a lot larger than other hawks in the hood.  Pic was taken in Sacramento, CA.

Can you crop the pic of the bird only and post it here?

Navi, I know I'm a bit late on the feedback, but just had to say how much I love that shot. Extremely creative and well executed. Great job.
