Rick,

I'm confused (all too often the case as I age). Will there be two passive radiators in the back baffle? The midwoofer hole in the top cabinet looks pretty large, and I'm wondering if it's going to be something like an 8 inch or larger driver?

Looking forward to more details as they emerge.

Michael

Yes, dual passive radiators on the rear. The midrange has a 168mm frame width.

Looks exciting, Rick, beautiful work as always!

I'm guessing the driver compliment will be the Scan-speak 11" revelator woofer, dual passive radiators as mentioned, the accuton C-168 midrange, and a scan-speak D30 beryllium tweeter.  If yes, should be an AMAZING speaker!

Thank you for sharing your work with us, please keep us informed of your progress.

SB Acoustics Satori 9.5" woofer, Accuton C168 mid, and Bliesma T25 beryllium dome tweeter. And yes, it will be amazing except for Carver having already coined that name.  :thumb:

I had never heard of the Bliesma T25 before your post...just checked the spec sheet, looks like an outstanding driver!  I repeat: someone is very lucky, these should be outstanding speakers!

Rick, can you educate us DIYers, what are your thoughts on passive radiators?  You typically create ported speakers, or occasionally sealed box speakers, so why the shift?  How do passive radiators compare to ported and sealed designs, and what criteria should lead one to prefer one design over the other?

Thank you, Rick!
