Foobar help
« on: 27 Jun 2006, 12:27 pm »

Getting Foobar 2k 0.8.3 to manages playlist is a daunting task for me. A little help would be extremely useful and appreciated. I don't need a lot of fancy features and bells & whistles just a little organization.
I would like to be able to sort my music into groups, such as, ROCK, CLASSICAL, JAZZ, FAVORITES and the like. And be able to pull up a group of play lists - play what I want, then put that group away and pull up another group.
With upwards of 600 CD's all grouped together in a mass of tabs that are continually moving as in the stock foobar, is at the very least, difficult.
Thanks

Here are a couple of forums that might help.  There are evidently a lot of different "skins" and column sorting that can be done.  Just have to install the right plug-ins I guess.

The GUI's that I see there are pretty impressive and I think they would meet your needs.

I have found all kinds of stuff and support for v.0.9.< but it doesn't seem to be backwordly comptible. I keep doing searches for Foobar 0.8.3, and the best help I can find is "upgrade to v.0.9". I guess I need to stop and learn Foo code and try and write some of this stuff my self.
v 0.8.3 isn't as popular as 0.9.< .
I was hoping someone here in Empirical land, would have allready  addresed this issue and point me to a ready made solution.

If this is true, you may have no choice but to use the 0.9 version of Foobar2K with the ASIO and SRC for it.  Alternatively, you could use a MAC and iTunes and not upsample.  Sounds quite good as well.

I had the same problem - wanted Foobar's sound engine but hated it's interface.  I did a search on the Internet and found something called "Foobar multi-plugin."

It's a little program that allows you to use the Foobar engine with the iTunes interface.  My son, a computer science major, tells me the correct term is 'shell.'  So far I've only been able to get it to work with Foobar 0.8.3, not the newer version.

Once you get them all loaded up (iTunes, Foobar, and the multi-plugin) go into iTunes > Edit > Preferences. Click on the 'Multi-Plugin' tab, the 'Other' tab, and select Foobar 2000 passthrough.

That's it!  You now have the best of both worlds. iTunes that sounds like Foobar.

I hope this helps.

Here is a discussion on the itunes/Foobar plug-in:

iTunes look and feel, with great-sounding Foobar ASIO interface.

That’s the older version.

Here is the newer one.

I use it, it only works with foobar 8.x, 9.x is unofficial.
