It's winter and cold where I'm at so it's time to bring out the ice music! Norwegian Terje Isungset creates all his instruments in ice. It may not be for everyone, but I think it's more than impressive to hear the sounds he can create. If you like it, there are many more videos on youtube including some that shows how he makes the instruments.

I couldn't find a good video for my favorite song Fading Sun from the album Winter Songs, but below is one with a still picture. This has a slightly different feel to it than the live video above since it's a studio mix. In fact, this is one of my go to songs for speaker testing, and I highly recommend that you get a good quality version of it since the youtube version is missing some details. It really creates a wintery soundscape from up North with ice that sounds like bells, the cold wind and a lonely female voice. Make sure you listen to it on something else than a tablet or laptop since you literally will miss half the song since you need something bigger to reproduce the deep deep bass when the "fog" comes in. So crank up your big system with the double 15" subs, and watch your house crumble.   :D

BTW: I'm originally from the Nordic countries so thanks for all the links. There are plenty of good non-folk music too! Will try to dig up some for you in the next few days.

WHAT!?!?  :o
I got a taste of what's there with my PC speakers (and mini sub). Enough that I turned on the big system with the IB subs.
That bass was crazy. It blurred my vision when it first came on. That should come with a warning.

8) Good to see you gave your IBs a workout! It's a very deceiving song. First time I heard it, I had been messing with my system and didn't realize how loud I had the volume until that bass kicked in. My powerful crown XLS amp was beaming "red" of joy.

I'm sitting here, comforting my geriatric dog as she goes through idiopathic vestibular syndrome for the second time in a little over half a year. So, I reached in the medicine chest and took a dose of Neil Young's, 'Don't Let It Bring You Down'. This never fails to move me.

Do you suggesting Lance is a drug? Maybe less than these metal bands listed here. Maybe this guitar solo from Banana Split Show will please you, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8ql7dIIItdo

Thanks for posting this. I've never seen these and they remind me of a time when I loved Metallica. I wonder what it felt like playing in front of such a large and loving crowd. I am now watching all of the Russia bootleg Metallica videos. 8)

I saw a link to that this morning, but didn't have time to investigate it. That's pretty cool - a 'piano roll' picks the gates which drop marbles onto concert bells, etc.

I imagine you've seen this (I know; it's not that time of year...): Cast in Bronze - Carol of the Bells.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BGR4Lj8cpYs

Of course, nobody has done the one-man-band quite like Pat Metheny, who invested a crapload of money, time and energy working with leaders in robotics and many other technologies to create an incredible orchestrion. This is an improvisation exploring one hell of a musical toolset - all controlled by his guitar and floor switches.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6dzxlr9LPDY

It would probably make sense to link Pat's introduction to the orchestrion.
