I have a Platinum Truth mod 999es player that is the best thing I have ever added to my system for music. I keep the video off when playing music which makes a noticeable improvement for what is already a great player. I also watch a movie or so every week and use the sony player as my dvd player as well. Of course I turn the video back on but have to say both video quality and sound are pretty underwhelming - probably on par with my $149 toshiba dvd player. Have to admit I am intimidated by the vast menu selection for video on the player and don't really want to mess around with it for fear of doing something to my excellent cd and sacd player. I know Dan didn't mod this to play dvds so maybe I should just give up on it as dvd player or is there any different experience or advice with this?
