So I'm thinking about building 2 small (8") subs from parts express.

If I use a line level low pass filter, can I use class A/B monoblocks (200W each) to power the subs?

Or should I use 2 BASH 300s subwoofer amps?

The rest of the system are small full-page speakers.  This is in a relatively small room, volume will not be loud.  I'm not looking for the absolute best sound, just really good will suffice (am I allowed to say that?).

I'm leaning towards the A/B route, I can then use a line level high pass filter so the full range doesn't try to reproduce low frequencies that it really can't do.

A high pass filter is when you wire them with your speakers. There's no line level high pass.Very small speakers normally do better with the high pass option.

I'm building a separate active line level filter device.  For each left/right line: 1 full signal line level in, 2 line level outputs - a low and a high filter outputs.  Many adjustments are available in the filter.

This would be for the class A/B monoblock route.
