A while back I posted a thread about back problems and some of the things I was doing to stay back healthy.

http://www.audiocircle.com/index.php?topic=95456.msg953963#msg953963

Well, I have another recommendation for those of us who have back pain and reduced upper back mobility issues.

A little about me, I'm 51, a professional paperhanger for the last 29yrs, and an avid golfer. I first developed back issues in my mid 20's and have been trying to slay the beast since. My day begins with a stretching routine which includes foam rollers, tennis balls, back bubble and sitting on a balance ball while at my desk. Even though I do this routine I still have flexibility issues and pain in my mid and upper back which can creep down to my lower back at times. I see or did see my chiropractor about every 10 days for a tune-up.

About a year ago my wife was watching "The Doctors" and the topic was alternative medicine. I came in at the end and saw the part about a chiropractor who had developed the KACELIA Tru-Align Body System. I gave it some thought but went on my way to the next issue that needed attention and nearly forgot about it. Until a couple of months ago I happened to remember and found the KACELIA site.

http://www.kacelia.com/

I called the number and a rep got back to me, he was the developers husband. We chatted about the back issues I have been having and gave me  the number of the sales rep, his daughter. There is something about small family business that I like and I purchased the KACELIA Tru-Align Body System. There is a 30 day return policy, but they take returns up to 90 days. It arrived about a week later and I immediately set it up and gave it a whirl.

I got a little movement in my upper back, but as the rep told me "you need to earn the stretch and it will take a few uses before any difference can be felt". Ok I'm game and the next morning I laid down and my axis went snap  :o right into place!

Since then I have had an awesome experience with KACELIA. I lay on it for 20min in the morning and 20min at night. My upper back flexibility is off the charts and the pain has dropped considerably. I now get spinal movement from the mid low back through my axis and have never felt better. I went to my chiropractor about 3 weeks after using KACELIA and he was amazed at my improvement. My only adjustment needed was on my lower left side which is standard issue for me. I still see my chiropractor but my visits have decreased which is good for the wallet. My work production has increased and my over all mobility has substantially increased.

As usual check with your Dr. or back specialist before use, YMMV.

Disclaimer: I'm in no way affiliated with KACELIA in any way! Just a happy customer!

I glad it works for you.
You have to do some exercises or just lay down on it?

Thanks for the tip. I sure could have used this a few years ago. It took a lot of chiro, acupuncture, massage and exercises to defeat my back pain.

Just lay down on it.  :D

There is a simple measurement you take from the ASISs (Anterior Superior Iliac Spines) to the base of your throat. Then measure that distance from the face rest and put the pelvic support at that number on the mat.
The instructions are simple and thorough.

The KACELIA is a life changer for anyone suffering from back pain.

Thanks for posting this.  I just went through a second back lockup in the last 2 years.
This may help prevent episode 3.

Brad,
I know all about extremely painful and costly back locking episodes. I got real proactive about my back heath 9 years ago and have discovered a routine that works well for me. Read the thread I linked in my first post and you might get a few good ides that may help.

I learned enough from Episode1 (which lasted almost a month) for Episode2 to only last a couple of days.

Stretching is critical, as is pain mgmt.

Taking off 20lbs is going to help too

Another therapy that is somewhat a recent innovation is spinal decompression therapy. I have used this therapy with traditional chiropractic care and some stretching, light weights and running. This is the best combo for my back problems- by far!

Nothing is worse than pain, so it's great to hear you found something that works for you. I may look into getting one for my wife too.

I have had lots of success with getting a FMS screen by a certified physical thearapist specializing in this and then following the principles to get correct movement patern established.  FMS = Functional Movement System. The screen assess functional limitations and asymmetries and helps restoring movement.

Highly recommended as a proactive approach - check with sports oriented physical therapists or good athlete trainers that can help with the screen and develop a program.

I went from weekly chiropractor appointments to none.
