Wow Cool! Thanks for sharing! We need more build threads of the NX line. I am really thinking that some of these will be in my future. Boy that front baffle is nice and thick. Will be following this with interest.  :thumb:

Boy that front baffle is nice and thick.

That was exactly what I thought when I first saw them.

Looks like you guys are doing a great  job Allan.  Yours are  hopefully being packed this afternoon  :)

Yes,  all the baffles in the NX line are made from  solid 1.5, high quality   MDF.   Youi  can   get the cheap, flaky  MDF but  we don't use it, it's junk IMHO

Thanks Jay, but my brother gets all the credit.  We've been following the stay-home-stay-safe guidelines, so we couldn't work together on his.

Good news about the shipment.

I am building his crossovers.  I bought a sheet of MDF at the hardware store to mount them on, and it was that cheap, flaky MDF that you speak of.  That's no joke; it is so different from the MDF the cabinets are made from.

Yeah,   a lot of folks don't even realize there is a difference.
It's been fun  tagging along  with   Roger's build,  really  looking forward to seeing how they come oiut in the end

Seeing that initial shot of black on the front baffles with the over spray on the wings makes me think these wings may look nice in like a Gibson sunburst look.

Hey Rock Ball, those look fantastic already.  The NX-Otica will be my next speaker and first speaker build as soon as Danny gets the drivers back in stock.  I love the look of that black, simple, elegant, and well finished.  Would you mind taking me through what you used and how many coats you applied, sanding, etc.  It would be a big help.  Also I live in Austin, TX  8)

I put together the crossovers for my brother.

I used almost 13' of red and 8' of black wire.  I added strain relief for the copper foil inductor leads but didn't think I was being too excessive with it.

My brother is getting ready to apply veneer to the sides of his cabinets.  Here are his practice strips on MDF.

The color will match his equipment rack.

Those crossovers are works of art. They deserve to be framed and hung on the wall.

Those are coming along nicely! Those schematics are nice, should be helpful to others building these. Keep up the good work!

My brother is applying the final coat today.

He's very happy with the results so far.

He plans to install the drivers tomorrow and start wiring them.
