Title: Vertical vs Horizontal Monos
Post by: Conmoto22 on 21 Oct 2023, 02:51 pm
Can anyone imagine a reason why Khartago monos can't be mounted vertically instead of horizontally (as designed)?

Okay, imagination and guesswork in high gear here, but maybe ventilation?  Most heatsinks are designed so that the air flowing from cool to hot passes up through the heatsink's fins.  Changing the amp's orientation could change this.  I don't know if it would matter or not.  Hopefully Klaus will chime in.

Can be done,  yes....but not my favorite thing though....keep in mind that our transformers are massive !!!!

Natural convection works on buoyancy forces with heat rising in the vertical. Since the Khartago utilizes internal heatsinks with holes directly above the fins, I would suggest keeping the amps horizontal for the best thermal performance. Of course the amp will run in a vertical position, just warmer.
