I have this one, Ear.  That's very nice of you to provide a link to some of the music.  Thanks.

jimd:  This is my favorite Hill piece.  He's the reason I got into JAZZ.  I heard "things" that over time kind of clicked and I haven't been the same since.

Hill is a unique musician and he mingles with my sensibilities, too, almost right away on the opening track of Point of Departure on Blue Note.  His sextet on that date is both inspired and inspiring.  A young, sharp as a mosquito's peter Tony Williams on drums, Richard Davis on bass, Dolphy and Henderson on reeds.  Kenny Dorham on trumpet.  But, I gotta say, so, too, is the opening track of One For One which I am about to continue listening to about rat now.  Thanks for posting this.  A unique player/composer whom I dig to the max.

Horace Silver Quintet - Finger Poppin'
Saw Horace with a sextet at Keystone Korner in SF in '77.  I had been listening to his albums since around '64.  My wife and I were on our honeymoon and I couldn't resist taking her there when I learned who was playing.  She commented that jazz is much better heard live.  I dragged both she and our daughter around NY a bunch on separate occasions, also.  Art Blakey and The Jazz Messengers at Keystone 3 on Concord Jazz is definitely worth your seeking out.
