Watched Analog Planet of Michael Fremer's visit to Audio Shows (never been to an audio show).
So let's say you're a vendor with all your gear setup in maybe a crap room. What Demo album are you going to play to show off your equipment? Some of the Demo music I could not even identify the genre, so please provide the genre if you know it.
You only get ONE album pick or I will delete your Post.
My pick, Pierre Moerlen's Gong -Live-, genre: Jazz Fusion. Had this album on vinyl but placed it too close to heat register. Fortunately found a CD copy of it.
Why this album? Well the sound spectrum is clear Hi to Lows even at low volume. It's not rank and should be pleasing or neutral to many listeners.

Frank Zappa - Apostrophe'.
If the swirling snow sounds aren't right you'll know it right away.
-
Yello - One Second
The album has everything from acoustic to electronic, all excellently recorded. The vinyl is much better than the CD unless it has been remastered recently.

BECK - SEA CHANGE (2002) MFSL
The Mix and sound stage is amazing. So many little sounds in the mix that I am still hearing after so many years. People might leave my room depressed though

For instrument placement...

For instrument tone:

Picked three. Mag, I'm seeing how long it takes you to delete this.

I guess I can't, at least I don't see how. But if you think I would be in your room long enough to Demo 3 albums, you are sadly mistaken. I might be there at best for ONE album

Chris Jones--Roadhouses & Automobiles
I bought it for the title song and No Sanctuary, but the entire album is really good music and each song is quite different. Of course, the entire album has the Stockfisch sound--awesome!

I'll modify it. But the two deleted picks are equally good, just different.
A few years back, I set up a room at the Lone Star Audio Fest... a Dodd Memorial room with as much gear designed by Gary Dodd as I could lay my hands on. I played mostly classical and jazz picks, but ask people to pick from a box of lp's when they came in. I'd try to play three cuts, or one side at most.
But if could only pick one, I'd pick the Colgems Casino Royale... but I'd get very tired of hearing it after the 4th or 5th repeat.

Sheffield direct to disc Track record great dynamics.
Unfortunately like most D2D the song choices aren't great but the recording is amazing.

My demo albums are several analog bad recorded pop music.

For me, it is the same one that got me hooked on the audiophile stuff, Mannheim Steamroller Fresh Aire V. Sure, there are better demonstrators out there, but FA-V is solid, and I know it so well after 30 years that I can hear when a system sounds different.

I have to agree, one of my all time favorites. I even shared that at WCES with CHip Davis.

Nice choices! Jeff Wayne's War of the World's has a bit of everything good and bad, suitable for most tastes with its rock classical electronic spoken word DNA.

Great choice! I also put on Sea Change for a dynamic experience.
