Most know that Brian has a 15", Ultra-MegaWoofer that is used in the VSS Subwoofer.

Well he has also decided to make the 12" Ultra-MegaWoofer which is currently only used in the VLA available too for those of you who have 12" woofer VMPS Models (RM-2 owners, and Original Sub owners)

They are priced at $225 each plus shipping.

Those who purchase the RM2 models can also add these as an option for $225 per pair over the standard megawoofers.  On the RM2jr, the price is $350 per pair to upgrade from the Polycone 12".

Are these woofer upgrades available for the VMPS Super Tower III?

With some undamping of the PR these woofers will substitute directly for the 12" in the ST3.

B. thanks for the quick response. Can I also substitute the 15" active for the ultra-mega woofer version? Are the changes plug and play or do I have to do any mods to the enclosure? In the end what advantages am I going to have - Higher power handling? Deeper bass?

Deeper, More accurate, more power, and greater power handling.

If I'm not mistaken (B can correct me if wrong) but I think this 12" has a larger excursion and there for affects the internal cabinet pressures to a greater degree and as such the PR needs to be "lightened" (reducing the damping) so that it can respond to larger excursions also.

The new 12" is designed for the VLA and is 4 Ohms.  Its tonal balance is quite different from the 8 Ohm wcf woofer in the T2SE and is not a good substitute for it.

The new 12" has the some type of cone as the new 15" with a very large motor, 112 oz.

We've had the 40oz 6.5" for over a year now.  Fs is 29Hz.  It's quite a woofer. Features include Xmax of 8mm, 1.5" 4 layer VC, and metal phase plug/shorting ring.
