Big Red Machine's HT3's
« on: 9 Dec 2006, 03:07 pm »
I promised I would post some pics of Pete's new HT3's as soon as they were finished.  Well, we finished them yesterday afternoon and delivered them to Pete last evening.

Originally Pete wanted a bubinga pair of HT3's.  When I showed him a photo of a pair we had just completed with a full-length, solid bubinga front baffle, he decided that is what he wanted.  The solid wood allows us to do a round-over on the woofer inset - a very nice touch.

So I bought some bubinga pommele lumber locally.  Then I saw a very nice piece on eBay and emailed the link to Pete.  It was rather expensive, but it was a really nice piece with a lot of dramatic figuring.  So we got that board to use instead.

Here are some photos:

Pete originally wanted our standard finish.  But when we met up at the Rocky Mountain Audiofest and he saw some other speakers with hand-rubbed, high-gloss finishes, he re-thought things.

In the end, we rubbed them out.  I just wish I could take photos that would really capture the luster and depth of the finish.  Oh well, they are meant to be seen and heard in person anyway.

Happy listening Pete!

Stunning as always Jim.

They are going to sound really, really good with his Moscode amp.

They are like glass.  These photos don't even come close to the showing the gloss finish.  I have a buddy coming over tomorrow night to photograph the room.  Maybe if I can figure out how to post a photo.... :duh:

And they are sweeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeett!!

Found some more buzzes in my room that need snugging up. :icon_lol:

Is it always Spring in your backyard, Jim? Or is that a backdrop.

Never thought to ask for a bikini adorned beauty to pose with my speakers for the posting as an alternative!

Speakers are always being born.  So, in a sense, it is always spring.

But I take pictures in our assembly room (shop) and the background is not what I would call attractive.  A little photoshop does wonders to strip it out.

Perhaps I should look for other pictures...how about snow?

Please, no snow. There's enough of that where I'm sitting.
