Hi Hugh,

Hope this finds you well and in good spirits!  :)

I have four questions when you have a moment;

1.) Can I use a full wave rectifier instead of the four IN4007 diodes?

2.) If so, what volt/amp rating?

3.) What is the output impedance of the TLP?

4.) Changing over to a stepped attenuator. What value do you recommend?

I'll send you a photo when finished.

Thanks again for a wonderful preamp design!

Cheers,
Brad Kizer

Hi Brad,

Thanks for your post, nice to hear from you.  I see your state is very important in the primaries!

Good news, the configuration of the four diodes is in fact full wave!!  I prefer this above all others.

The rectifiers used are 1A continuous, 10A surge, 600 PIV.

Zout is recip gm of the tube, which is around 130R.

I recommend a 20K, or thereabouts.  This is well handled by the SS section of the most sources, and gives low noise.

Hope this helps!

Cheers,

Hugh

I didn't word my question properly but as always you seem to know where I'm going. :D Must have been the countless hours you spent schooling me many years ago on my first AKSA 55 build.

This primary thing here in Ohio has alot of folks up in the air...I personally don't care for any of them, on either side but thats just me.

Anyway, thanks for your help.
