Bryston 8BST/Lexicon 412 DIY repair potentially?
« on: 15 Apr 2018, 03:29 am »
I bought one of these some time ago, and for a variety of reasons, only now have I tried to use it.  Channels 2,4 both have an occasional hiss or white noise problem that comes and goes in the background.  It can even persist if the preamp, a clean BP-25 is muted.
The channel 3 seems down in power, though it is at least clean.

I love DIY if its straight forward, so I'm curious if anyone out there has opened these up and found some pretty obvious and visible problems.

I have an factory box, so shipping it in would not require that additional expense, but still to and from Canada, not inexpensive.

Anyone open these up and work on them?

By the way, I also pulled out 2 other 8BST units and WOW... bridged these amps are so, so clean..... I had never played with them in bridged mode.....Incredible sound.
