Understandable.
But as a very satisfied Oppo user (83SE, 105) I regret it.

I can see why as Optical media (DVD and CD) is dying as streaming takes over.  But I wonder about the quality though and a lack of ownership of the material?

that's exactly my concern... streaming video is definitely worst than a BD movie, let's not even mention audio.

Sadly preferences have moved from quality to quantity and convenience.

Sad and surprising news indeed.  I have a 105 and a 205 and use them as digital hubs, much more than a disc player.

Sad..OPPO made a good product.
Sadly they overpriced some of their latest products such as the 4K blu ray player...UDP 205.
A lot of people these days like throw away products and could purchase 4K players much cheaper but at what quality. I am also talking about product endurance.
I own the OPPO 93..its perfect and so is the picture.
From my understanding OPPO WILL be around but they are out of the blu ray & 4k market. They are invested heavily into phones

Sad Farewell Oppo

Not surprised,  when they put out the 203 and 205 without any capabilities to get access to Tidal it made me wonder. WHY .  I've been a OPPO user for a while. Owned the 83, 93, 95 105, and now the 203. I had the 205 but it just didn't do it for me since they left out streaming access.  The loss of apps is what killed it for me.

Almost 290,000 Oppo listings now on Ebay, and rising quite a bit each hour. Many are part listings.

Are they selling their inventory at a discount? Don’t see that yet.

OK, so an argument can be made that the market for physical media is in free-fall, and the time to bail is now.  But Oppo also has a streaming product, the Sonica DAC.  I find it interesting that they're dumping that, too.

Buy one now before it becomes unobtainium and prices skyrocket on ebay.
