Dealer awareness
« on: 5 Jan 2012, 01:34 pm »
A friend told me yesterday that our local dealer was 'not aware' of the BCD-1 's discontinuation. I thought with around 3 months left they would know that late orders would be out of luck. I'm glad I got my spare one ahead of time....LOL.:bounce:

It is something to consider but it would be much more expensive.

James,

Brian is talking about a 'final CD player'. if it should become reality...is it going to be something like an updated version of the BCD-1??

Hi Al

No it would have to be a completely different drive and design.

A true dedicated CD transport, optimized for Redbook CD and for use with the BDA-1 would be sweet.  And perhaps for those who only want to buy a single component, a BDA-1 with an integrated and optimized CD transport.

AKA a BCD-1 ( but w/ two 24-bit DAC )...?

Yes, but not quite.  Also with the capability and connectivity options of the BDA-1 to pass through other sources via the integrated DAC - and perhaps with 32-bit/384kHz capabilities.

Very exciting idea. I would rather it remained a front loader to allow rack mounting. :thumb:

SACD is a nice feature and it is difficult to find SACDs in my favorite music genre. I think my last major SACD purchase was The Dead Can Dance box set.

Be well...

Yeh, same here. SACD is quite invisible to my music as well. This is why I so value my redbook (bcd) player and hope that Bryston can fix mine 'IF' it breaks....... :thumb:

No, I don't. I would like one, though, and before I buy a Pioneer or another Japanese unit, I want Bryston to come out with one!

I am mostly into vinyl, yes, but I really like sacd. To me, it's a lot better than redbook cd.
