Well done! The "tableaux" looks very harmonious-- the white pickets, the speakers, and of course, the wine!

Just need to sand and stain em to finish...that will mean I have to disconect them from the stereo...and that won't be happening anytime soon! :D

JRace,

That's a great job on the Frugal Horn Mk3. Really handsome. I've built four so far and they're great in 5.1 but will be better if I can come up with a center channel. I went with the Fostex Fe126En.

If you don't already have an enclosure design for the center channel,  a QNDD  guess would be 4 liter or so, vent tuning circa 110Hz.

Both Fostex's "recommended" enclosures for this driver are not among their best.

Now, I only build these things, so don't ask me what modifications would be necessary to tuning, but it couldn't hurt to try this design

Chamfers are optional, but if you're laying it sideways, I'd run them on the short edges

This enclosure is designed but not drawn, a response to seeing Fostex recommended BR which has a really ugly bass alignment. And to show that without helper woofers or a horn, you won't get bass out of an FE126.

Plans will be free for download.

Hi,

My sealed 4" full ranger mounted in 4-5litre box. Use them as my desktop speakers. Sounds good to me, I am buying another pair which costs about $80, spl rated at 88dB at 4 ohm impedance. I can use tube amp(12watts) to drive them to fairly loud level.

ttan98,

I got them from Louis in China, currently they run out of stock, once available I will post their website here. BTW I am not associated with the seller.

tabrink,

Thanks for the pic   :thumb:

The set up for my main rig is similar, but my desk is back about 10 feet, which gives enough room for a chair in front to provide unobstructed Cardas formulated nearfield listening (with speakers again the perscribed Cardas distance from front/side walls in a Cardas "Golden Cuboid" proportioned room).  With monoblocks wired directly to the drivers the image snaps into place from "the" chair (even 8 year olds have heard it and get "big eyes").

Would be interested in finding out more information (ts specs) about the driver.  Is that a whizzer cone?  Don't see very many 4" with whizzers.  Thanks.

Those Super 8's look great but they'll take you to another level if you add some H Frame Alphas.

JRace,
Very nice.  Can you describe the difference in sound you get from the dMar-Ken7 and Frugel-Horn-MK3?
