Take a long slender rubber band, cut it once to make a string of it, tie a heavy washer or fishing weight to one end, hold the other. Pull the weight down, let go and watch the up and down motion of the weight. Get a weight heavy enough so it moves up and down about once per second. Slower is better. That is the resonate frequency of that combination.  Move your hand up and down very slowly watching the weight. Now move your hand up and down faster than the natural resonance of the system. Notice the motion of your hand relative to the motion of the weight in the slow and fast mode.
