ECC99 and ECC82 Equivalent Tube Codes?
« on: 24 Oct 2019, 06:00 pm »
I will be getting the Lampizator Amber 3 DAC which uses "a ECC99 super tube as input amplifier, in a zero feedback, single ended triode mode, as well as ECC82 as low impedance output buffer." I don't know the exact tubes Lampizator supplies with this DAC but there is always the temptation to find something better - either new or NOS but online I find the following listed equivalencies:  ECC99 = 6N6P ~ E182CC Russian Double Triode Tube, 6N6P / 6Н6П, 6N30P-DR. Do these codes seem correct?

I believe the 12bh7 is the equivalent for the ecc99, but check with a pro.

Don't get too caught up with that tube however, but rather the Cathode follower/output tube, the 12au7.  That makes a tremendous difference with the Amber 3 and are worth rolling different varieties after you have it running a few weeks to break it in.

Here's a chart from the Tube World website (no affiliation) I've found to be quite accurate.

And/or the Lampizator guys Fred and Rob.  I just realized this thread isn't in the Lampizator circle.

I did a casual search and came up with no subs for the ECC99.
