Just found out James Cotton has passed away. Man what a life though.
Growing up outside of Chitown got to hear a good bit of his music. Hell of a harmonica player.

Now that gives me the blues ... RIP James!
I guess I will bring some James Cotton music to AXPONA next month!

Up there jammin' with Junior Wells, Carey Bell, and Little Walter.
Going to listen to at least some of 'Deep in the Blues', a trio album from 1996 with Joe Louis Walker on guitar and Charlie Haden (!) on bass, before I turn in tonight.

The local University of Toledo Student Union Dance hired the James Cotton Blues Band in winter of 68; so as a high schooler I got to see an excellent band from Chicago.
James had Luther tucker on guitar , Bob Anderson on bass , Alberto Gianquinto pounding the 88's ( and I mean pounding ) and maybe Lester Davenport or Francis Clay on drums ? . I'll have to check my JC Verve albums for the drummer .
