Advice needed for AV Remote/ Smartphone Combo
« on: 11 Jan 2011, 09:34 pm »
I'm looking for a smartphone that can also control my Squeezebox, satellite TV and DVD player. Is this too much for one device to handle efficiently? Would I be better advised to separate the home devices from the smartphone? My ATT cell contract recently expired so I'm using this as an excuse to get rid of the 4 remotes cluttering the cocktail table and purchase a smartphone. :D

I can only give you info on Squeezebox apps, I have a free app on my Android phone that is basic but works fine and ipeng on my ipod touch which was $10 and is fabulous so either way you go you got the SB covered.  :thumb:

Not sure any smartphone has IR natively (it can be added to the iPhone with a peripheral) so I am not aware that any one device will do it.

I use a Logitech 880 as my single HT remote.  It is fantastic. PC setup, one touch macros for activities.

For PC music control I use iPeng on my iTouch (on it posting this too).

Used kit rocks!

Hmmm.....I wonder if the 880 will work with my Squeezebox? Since it's built by Logitech it should.

Thanks,
