Manic Moose database not working
« on: 7 Jun 2023, 06:36 pm »
I’ve tried everything I can think of to get MM db to load my files. Nope.
It has Ben working up until a few weeks ago.
Anyone else have or had an issue with this?
Thanks for any/ all advice.

Just asking - have you unplugged from the mains , waited a few minutes , plugged in , and turned on.?

What changed after the last time you had file access?
What is your player?
What software version

Yes, did those things. Nothing has changed since last time I had them in the db.
Powered system off to go on holiday and when I powered it up again, the db was blank!

I’m using BDA 3.14 MM rev. S2.45 2022-10-05 .Player tells me it’s the latest.

To take MM  out of the equation , can you see your drive and the files in the led display on the bdp3.14?
.

There is no led display on the BDA-3.14
I can access the hd thru MM but not thru Bryston’s db

Maybe take the SSD drive and plug it into a pc/mac and see if the files are there and you know they are not actually gone?   Or connect to he BDP through the network from a PC to see if you can see the drive and files?  Also this would verify there is not something wrong with the connection to ssd drive

The files are there. I can access them through MM by selecting the SSD. I have to find each artist folder and then an album inside that folder to play it.
Obviously the connection is fine.
The problem is with the db not sorting them into artist/ album/ etc. so I can bypass all that.
The purpose of the db is so we don’t have to scroll through all the folders on a hd to select an artist or album, and mine isn’t working for some strange reason.
I’m glad so many others are happy with MM and what it does for them. I’m waiting on OS3 for relief.

So I tried reloading one more time and now it’s working again!!?? I don’t know what the heck happened but issue gone for now!

Thanks to all who tried to help ✌🏻

Back in early 2020 I had problems with MM doing weird things.  I have the BDP-pi.  Chris from Bryston was able explore my BDP-pi remotely.  He determined that the SSD card was bad.  Once I replaced the SSD, MM performed perfectly, and it has continued to do so.  Note, however, that I had to buy my own replacement SSD card.  Bryston wouldn't supply a replacement.
