Try to grab the plastic part at the end of the connection. When reinstalling be sure to push firmly on both ends to make sure it's all the way down. Sometimes ribbon cables can feel like they're down and they're not.
Sometimes ribbon cables will go on both ways so be sure to mark one end so you know which way it came off.
