A friend of mine had the Levinson HQD system with Hartley sub woofers. Before I met him he was a legend in the audio stores in Edmonton, Alberta Canada, in the Late 70s; how he bought the system with Bryston amps and everything blew up, mylar panels - amps, due to the speakers needing voltage limited power.
Later I got to know him on a friendship basis. He had sold the speakers and later bought them back again. I briefly heard them. They were so much a head in the vice speaker that Acoustat 2s seemed like freedom. Like move your head 6" and you were out of the zone. I never heard it set up like I would have and was not impressed. He later sold the speakers and bought Apogee Divas. He kept his Hartley subs though.
