Reentering high end audio after decades away
« on: 25 Feb 2020, 11:39 pm »
Hello,

Re-entering world of high end audio after decades away.  Recently bought prima luna tube preamp, parasound amp and need to replace my much loved Mirage M3 bipole speakers.

Looking into open baffle speakers since I think they will give the kind of sound I'm looking for.  If anyone has thoughts on Spatial vs Emerald physics vs Tri art I'd appreciate it.  Not into building my own, even from kit.

Thanks for your time.

  • To whom more was given more will be required.
    • Never go to a psychiatrist, adopt a straycat or dog. On the street they live only two years average.

Parasound uses Kef speakers at shows to demo their amps, probably a good match:

I own a pair of Spatial M3 turbo S', and recommend them. But, be careful of audophilia as the desire to upgrade and improve can tax your wallet. I DO recommend using IsoAcoustic products for anything you buy. The Spatials are great, and also easy to drive, don't weigh a ton, and look great! You may want to tell us where you're at if you want to audition some near you? Good luck!

I will second the Spatial Audio suggestion. I own the M4 Triode Masters and love them. My speakers reflect the quality of the upstream components to a large degree so improving the quality of the source, amp, etc. really made a difference in how they sound.
