I disagree Dave.  They've decided not to offer a passive version.  The prices I quoted are for the aktive model...

The aktive was $50k. It was on the sign right next to the right speaker, that's where I'm getting my info from.

Hello everyone!

It was great to see all of you who attended RMAF. We sure put on one heck of a show if you ask me! As always, small hotel rooms are difficult to work with but the VR-55s held their own and managed to delivered an impressive listening experience despite these challenges.

Then the $42K price is no longer.. :(

Just to clarify, the VR-55 is available in both an Aktive version ($50,000 MSRP) and a Passive version ($42,000 MSRP). The Aktive version is what we were displaying at RMAF.

On another note: I saw mention of a "trade-in program" for old VR-5s to upgrade to the new VR-55. At this time I am unaware of such a program but I will ask around.
(I may or may not have left my brain back in Colorado :duh: )

Delacroix,, know you spent time in the VSA room so try what I did this evening.  Put your complimentary VS Test CD into your player and turn the volume up...  Try to recreate the speed, coherence and dynamics that you heard from the new 55's,,, with your updated Annie's.  Not possible,,, not even close.  Granted, electronics, cables etc...  but your speakers, your room.  The 55's are a different spkr,, top to bottom.

There was a  VSA CD on offer? Missed that......but I don't need one to prove I can't quite get the 55s sound...I know it!
