I've decided to have my amps continue the trek around the USA with all the emails and PM's. They are on the way to Massachusetts in a few days.
These are XLR input only. Pin 2 hot. RCA > XLR adapter can be used without issues.
Please post your interest with your state.
The terms will be as follows:
Member must be a member of AC in good standing with some history
All members are responsbile for shipping cost to the next member
You post honest feedback for all to see
You only keep the amps for a maximum of 3 days
You will need to provide two power cords as I shipped them without power cords. Also, they do not have faceplates on them as I didn't want them to get ruined as I spent quite a bit of time making them. Last, please be careful with these. These are my personal units and I'd like for them to come back how they left which is in perfect condition.
The best way to give me your info is via email. DO NOT PM it to me. It makes it very difficult when I'm mobile. If it's not emailed you will be missed.
Email the shipping info to with the subject "NCORE TOUR-your moniker" Again, if this isn't in the subject it will be missed as I get a very large amount of email per day.
This is all at your own risk. AudioCircle or any member is not responsible for your actions. You are fully responsible for your stereo, the loaned amps and shipping to the next member. Remember, if you're not sure, just ask. It really is that simple.

Hello Jason,
Is there an RCA-XLR converter cable included for us "unbalanced" ( ) users?
-
Hi Jason,
I'd like to hear these as well. I'm in northern NJ. :D
Thanks,
Christian

Hello Jason,
Is there an RCA-XLR converter cable included for us "unbalanced" ( ) users?
You do bring up a good point and I've added this to the first post. XLR input only with Pin 2 being hot.
You most certainly can use an adapter as that's what I do. I didn't plan on doing this so I didn't include one. Certianly you get them at any pro audio store though and include them and when the amps come back to me I can send them back to you.

I believe I have adapters to turn xlr into rca and I would be happy to provide them for the tour. I just need to look around the audio stash and find them. I'll post back here and let people know.
Jason, thanks again for doing this. :thumb: :thumb:

Wow. This is super. Many many thanks. Email sent. :thumb: :thumb: :thumb:
-
I have a drawer full of both types of adapters if you need them.
I used adapters with built-in jumpers on the source end with full XLR cables to the amps, as recommended in the Hypex data sheet. I did not try it the other way around using RCA cables with the adapters/jumpers on the amp end.

Jason:
This is a VERY nice gesture on your part. 8) I would love to be added to this list if possible. I reside in NE Ohio. I sent you an email...
Regards,
Randy

If there's room on the list I'd love to give these a try in Philadelphia! Really nice gesture! :thumb:

We could make it two stops in Philly then. Email sent.

Email sent; NYC here.
Thank you for this generous offer.
-
Email sent from here also. Am in Little Rock, Arkansas. Running a tricked out UcD 400 right now (into Quads) and would like to compare. Appreciate your offer. Cordially,

If you decide to smoke your wheels and drift the corner into Canada I would enjoy a run with them.

Just want to give a word of thanks to Jason for his generosity in shipping his amps around. I turned him down at first but anticipating that mine would not ship for another month I said, sure ship them out. Thanks! :thumb:
Turns out mine shipped earlier than expected and should be here Monday. While I can't ship them around for a tour I will be happy to have any Colorado AC members over who would like to see and hear the little guys. Obviously I need to get them assembled and make sure all is well, but perhaps in a couple of weeks we could have a few folks over if there is any interest.

I have adapters as well, just let me know, and I'll ship them wherever it needs to go.
Glad to see the tour happening. That way, people can know first hand of the performance of these amps which will answer numerous questions I am sure.
Anand.

I have a kit all assembled to accompany them along the way, just waiting to hear back from Jason.

I'd love to be on the list just to see how it was built before I buy em. Would need RCA adapters if ya got em.
-
I've updated the list with the current emails with all the info. I've sent responses to some who monikers I don't know.
I'll say that you're more then welcome to send in the request but keep in mind that it most likely will not make it as this is a huge tour. I've commited to 3 months.
I've gone ahead and ordered another pair of amps b/c I don't have amps now and I need music. Those are a month away too.
I know there will not be a Canada tour for sure from me. Sorry.

^^^^^^^^^^ ^^^^^^^^^ ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
It might be important to emphasize part of Jason's statement from above. There are no faceplates which mean the power supplies are right out in front where they could be touched. I'm not aware enough to say whether this poses a physical threat but, if you have small children, caution would be wise. There are surely dangerous voltages in there somewhere and nothing to shield them from your kids curious fingers.
-
I figured the dog sleds up here in Canada would be too slow for the tour. But worth asking. It's really snowing up here right now.

Tom, can you share any info on these jumpers, as well as where to buy them?

User "Ehous" on Audiogon or "ehous31900" on gmail. $30/pair, internally jumper'd on cold pin to ground, very sturdy, gold pins, and work great. I bought a few sets of each type. He ships quickly. I'm sending two each #1's and #4's to Zybar for the tour.
Updated pricing and link to Ed's current Audiogon ad: http://app.audiogon.com/listings/xlr-to-rca-adapters-gold-contacts--9 (http://app.audiogon.com/listings/xlr-to-rca-adapters-gold-contacts--9) but I'd just send him an email directly.

Just drove the car to pick up my son's friend. It started snowing a few hours ago and it was easily the worst driving conditions all winter. Traction control was going bonkers and I was white knuckling all the while trying not to slip off into the ditch. Wet snow freezing on the road while the top is Slurpee sloppy.
Ah, nice to back to the computer rig. Mac laptop, usb into a Xindak xa6950(09) into Volent VL-2s. This rig has given me tremendous satisfaction. I have a hard time shutting it down at night.

He is on the list. Also, do not expect to just forward the amps according the to the list. Things can change as people may have a conflict that week.
Again, these are my amps that I purchased that are out of my system. I'm ampless so it's very important to listen and then move them to the next person. If you can do it in a day or two that is very much appreciated.

I need to work on my reading. Didn't see PA and jumped to conclusions.

You are incredibly generous. I'll keep my audition to 1 day.
-
Jason, Very nice gesture on your part. :thumb:
Anyone on the list from Wisconsin? Maybe I would be able to hear them. Although I have already bit the bullet and ordered them, it will be a while before they arrive.
Sorry I didn't see you had the states listed.
Thanks,
Mark
-
I am in Chicago, and if other ACers want to check the ncore out while I have it, we could see about arranging something.
-
That is really nice JT, it kinda makes me wanna send my ERC-2 out and see what people think of it.
-
Jason's amps are in Fruita, Colorado this weekend. You can arrange to hear them here if you PM me and you don't mind traveling pretty far out of your way. Audiophilia may be illegal around these parts because, AFAIK, there are no others. Please don't turn me in. The amps might be seized as evidence when they arrest me.
Seriously though, if it is feasible for you to get here, you will be welcomed.
-
Jason is a very good man for letting his Ncores out. I am in Missouri if you can find the time to ship them here.
One day for me is all I need.

Do you need to borrow an amp while yours is on tour? I have a new TBI Millenia Class D amp that I can loan you until you get yours back.

If you come somehow fit Tom in really quick I'd love his impressions. Tom's the man. I believe him when he says just a day and then onto the next guy.

BTW, for all you guys who are downstream from me, I heartily recommend you listen to MJQ through these amplifiers. They must have been designed expressly for Milt Jackson.

MJQ?
Any specific Milt Jackson albums?
I am listening to Bags Meets Wes! And it is sounding excellent (as it always does).

Modern Jazz Quartet - Milt Jackson is the vibraphonist. It's called The Complete Last Album.

Hi Jason. First I have to say it is very generous of you to be willing to have your amps shipped all over the country. I have been reading about the new Ncore amps over in the DIY forum for several months and on a few other web spots. Over the years I have owned Thata Digital Dreadnought MK II , Halcro MC2, Bryston 14B SST2. and finally Nuforce Ref 18 mono blocks. While all these amps are very good and some are better then the others, the Nuforce worked best for me. Having said that I have been very intrigued with Bruno and the Ncores he had been working for the last few years. So when I heard that he had finally finished the amp I went looking for information on them. Someone on the DIY forum mentioned that the AC had started talking about the Ncores so I made a stop and found your thread.
I realize that you have closed the tour and that is cool but I also noticed that on the tour there are a couple of stops in the NY-NJ-PA area. I live in NJ (by Giants Stadium) and wonder if you can pass on my email to the recipients of your amps in those areas. If any of them would be so kind as to give me an opportunity to hear the amps at their home I would greatly appreciate it. I belong to several audio clubs from NY and NJ and would like to give the members first hand feed back. My email is albythebeach at yahoo dot com.
Regards, Al.
-
Al,
PM sent. Of course if the members want to contact you via PM that's fine too. Just keep in mind that they have 3 days with the amps max. Of course the people that take less get bonus points. :D

Oh wow! I was just putting in a good word for Tom, he's a good guy and we chat a lot about amps. Nothing more nothing less.
And from now on nobody is allowed to be excited for or discuss what is already known about something they want. That's all I've done. I haven't manufactured anything. Just talking! It's a forum!
Oh well, by the time the tour got to me, Mola-Mola might have their version out, or close. I am sure Bruno held back a few sonic tricks from the DIY version. The Mola-Mola might have a better power supply.
-
That Bruno may have good ears, but I worry about his eyes after seeing these pics of the new Mola-Mola products. It looks kinda wavy. You won't be stacking any components on top of this gear.

Since the Mola Mola will have the NC1200's....the answer is no. The other stuff coming out will be more interesting IMO.

Sure wish I could be at the Munich show in Germany next month.
Now that would be a great line to distribute here in the US.
I could care less about the pre-amp, but a Dac with remote volume would be very nice.
-
Talk about generousity!
If any of you compare Ncore with another amp for dedicated sub (or midbass) use, it would be great to hear feedback.
There's one here in Norway that have compared Ncore with UcD (and IcePower ASP) with his dipole columns and he says Ncore is noticeable better. UcD was the second best. His dipoles are crossed over quite high. This is surprising, but he's one of those few I trust. He's in many ways an objectivist and has dedicated room with loads of treatment (absorption, basstrapping and diffusion). And he sits in nearfield as you can see below.

Wish I saw this thread earlier. Looking forward to the feedback.

Rocket_Ronny
I think that would be StigErik. His system has gone through eye popping changes over the last 3 years.
Interesting that he now has settled on B&G RD-75s in no baffle from 200Hz up:
http://www.diyaudio.com/forums/planars-exotics/193618-b-g-rd-75-dipole-baffle-waveguide.html
after going through such an elaborate variety of good drivers, and covers the bass with, I think 4 18" drivers a side (OB) and intends to go to 8 per side, I think.
Sorry for the diversion.
-
I just found this thread. I posted on the other NCore thread that I'd like to listen to them, but it looks like I'm too late. I'll PM Nick77 to see if I can hear it at his place.

Yes, a couple of members will have them in CA. See post #2.

They arrive at the next member today...

CA is a somewhat large state. A mention of city or county might be helpful if the lucky recipient is willing to host guests who are strangers but not necessarily strange. :cyclops:

Yes, I'm very aware.
I don't think it's proper for me to broadcast the area of residence for all to see. You can easily PM the members and inquire.
Also, some members might have their area in the profile section. Just click on their name and check.

If you're on the list for this tour and the amps are due to ship to you PLEASE check your email frequently. I'm sending info and I really do need acknowledgments.
-
I understand completely. That is why I said "if the lucky recipient is willing".
I will be scarce for the next couple of weeks. Traveling back in time to my mom's house. I hope her "to do" list is not too long. No wifi, no tunes. Primitive.

Why did Ncore arrive in the middle of gardening time? Why must we exercise?...Why did I not get chassis whilst waiting....oh the humanity....

The amps have one more stop before they come back to me for a quick look over. From then they will finish this tour.
-
Update on the tour pair of amps... I have them coming back to me after their DC stop. I want to give them a look over as they have logged thousands of miles. Also, I've had a few requests as some people don't have enough spare power cords. I asked Pete @ Triode if he would loan two power cords for the tour and he agreed. So, two of his 6' "Seven Plus" cords will be included starting with Maxcast. This tour is about NCores but of course feel free to use or not use the power cords and post impressions if you wish.

Generosity begets generosity.
Very cool, Jason.

I posted on the "impressions" thread but wanted to post here as well.
I had the NCores for three wonderful days. Then on Friday drove them up to TedB's place. After I got back home the Memorial Day weekend took over with a ton of relatives and an unexpected problem that occured at my Mom's house which I am trying to get ready to put on the market.
I will be posting my impressions of Jason's NCores tomorrow.
Regards,
Randy

The last person in California has withdrawn his tour spot as he has gone ahead and purchased two pairs of NCore amps.
So, if you are in California this is your chance. ONE spot only. First person to post from the great overpriced state of CA gets them.
First post rules still apply.

Thanks, Jason! It'll be interesting to see how my cables may compliment the Ncore's! I've sold several of my cables to owners of Class "D" amps, including Cherry's & they're extremely happy with the results!
Have fun with Round 2 of the tour! :thumb:

This means that this tour will end in California...

I'm adding feet to them and also tidied up the inside a wee bit and reset DC offset. Listening to them now. The last part is to come up with a another shipping carton as this one is tired. I have an idea but waiting to see if I can pull it off. :green:

The last part is to come up with a another shipping carton as this one is tired. I have an idea but waiting to see if I can pull it off. :green:
I think I have accopmlished this too. UPS has made a delivery to me today...I'll post pictures when I get it all done.
This means that these amps will ship to Maxcast on Monday for the second leg of this tour.

Very serious looking. Does it come with a silencer 8)

For the last stop on the tour in NC I will be sending my amps to him as I will be going to his G2G and then picking them up then.
This means that this tour will end in California...
Is this a SoCal GTG or a NorCal GTG?

Very serious looking, I remember Nomad Audio shipping their speakers in a similar fashion. Now the Ncores travel in style!

Nice case! Looks like a Pelican(?) I used to have a Pelican Case for my camera gear.
-
Yes, NC = North Carolina but post 120 said the tour was ending in California. Guess I am confusing tour I and tour II.

Yes, the tour is ending in California. Since I'm going to the G2G in NC I have sent my other pair of NCores to the NC location as I will pick them up at the G2G. So the tour will end in California but the last person on the tour list who is in NC will hear them this week. The tour was going to end in NC but he has added his G2G and it's a good time so I'll go.
-
Is there any chance that you could add one more spot in Northern CA on the tour? I have a few friends that would love to hear them along with myself.....
-
Just lift the piece of cardboard off and the thin piece of foam.
Then lift the amps out carefully.
The power cords and RCA > XLR adapters are in the opposite compartment. There is also some extra foam just in case but as long as everyone is careful it shouldn't be needed.
Onto Maxcast....
-
Next stop is Maxcast. They arrive 6/20/12.

Well just take the "e" off of "grade school" and there you have it. Work today is grading student papers.
And they are in the house! Just set them up and ready to let 'er rip once the dog gets her walk.
-
And they are in the house!
Guess this means all arrived in good condition. :D
-
With the case you provided, the UPS truck could've hit a landmine and the amps would still be in great shape.

I'm tellin' you, it's a helluva case.
Well, our government buys them by the 10's of thousands. They get dropped out of helicopters into the desert so shipping amps in them is pretty easy. :) There is a video somewhere of a full size SUV running one over and it being fine.

Also a reminder that there are some Triode Wire Labs power cords enclosed as are RCA > XLR adapters.
