12 v power to Amadeus
« on: 18 Jun 2012, 07:25 pm »
Hi just a question on the 12v input to the Amadeus is the center pin Positive (like mist gear) or Negative like the Dyn P75?

I have the Dyn pre and am about to get a Amadeus.  I run the Dyn on a 100ah battery and wan't to run the Amadeus the same way.

thanks
Noel

Once you have the Amadeus, you can check the wall-wart. Or maybe a nice ACer with a WTA will do that for you.

Just out of curiosity, why do you want to run the turntable off of a battery?  Why not just get the DPS and be done?  I don't see how the battery would effect the sound quality of a turntable.  Other electronics, yes, but I can't see how it would help a motor on a turntable.  I could also just have no idea what I'm talking about.

Well I have bulk supply of batteries and why not use them instead of paying for a DPS. I would ashume a battery will add nothing but 12v dc to the system.

True, but the DPS adds more....:)

Now I suppose if one loved to be off the grid, then more battery power to you.
But I have yet to hear it sound better so I'll stick with my high voltage.

If you want to have some fun google Charles Altmann and look at his battery powered amps and DAC's.
