Standard Convention - Sample Rate/Bit Depth or Bit Depth / Sample Rate

Sometimes I see 96/24 and sometimes I see 24/96.
Is there a standard correct convention?

I've always (ok, 90% of the time) seen it as 24/96 (for your example) IOW, bit depth then sample rate.  That's how the pro recording guys speak it as well.
