There is a DIY speaker/tube club that meets monthly at the Randall museum in Golden Gate Park.
http://www.geocities.com/sfvacuumtubeclub/
Membership is free.
The exploratorium does not have a club but has had some classes/lectures regarding loaded horns. I am freinds with some of their engineers and would be happy to post any events upcoming, hopefully get them to post as well.

The Bay Area Audiophile Society, founded by Dennis Davis and Wilson Lem, is well over 10 years old. BAAS membership is a whole $15, and lasts for years and years without needing to be renewed. We have well over 125 people on our e-mail list, although the majority rarely attend events.
We have three upcoming demos open to members only:
Sept. 30 Demo of my reference system plus demo of Acoustic Systems resonators in East Oakland
Oct. 7 Demo of Zu speakers and cabling at my place
[Note: the main purpose of the reference system demo is to give people a reference from which to evaluate the Zu Audio speakers and cabling that will replace my own on October 7]
Oct. 28 Tour of NHT facilities
Also: Weekend of October 21 A number of BAAS members will attend the Rocky Mountain Audiofest
Some of these events have attendee limits and require pre-registration due to space concerns.
All BAAS events are organized by volunteers.

There is a DIY audio group (mostly loudspeaker but also DIY electronics, mods and so on) that meets a couple times a year in Roseville (near Sacramento).
The web site for the group can be found at:
http://ncdiyaudio.com/
The most recent meeting was in February and the next one will be around late September or early October. Everyone is welcome to attend or bring a project to display / show / play, etc.

Hi, All. Looks like this thread is a few years old. Wondering if the information is still current, and/or if any new clubs have sprung up. I'm an audio lover, based in the Mission in SF. Would love to share gear + music inspiration with others.
