Maybe Axpona's turn is coming up.

Agree. Ebb and flow of things. If you live in CA then why travel outside CA for CO then you already have several CA shows. Chicago is home to millions and easy in and out.

As mentioned previously, there exist too many shows and so exhibitors are forced to pick and choose which show(s) would give them the most exposure.

I believe RMAF is still the largest show in America with THE Show Newport as second.
The problem with RMAF is its size, too big and too many rooms so, unless you are well known, room traffic was not that great. To add to this, Sunday was mostly a ghost house when the weather is nice and/or there's a game in town.

We'd been with RMAF for the past 5 or 6 years but we had to pass this time around.

Not too sure about Axpona at all though.

jab,  What do you mean by "June Gloom"?  I wish the Newport show was in the Jan-April time frame. I would guess the end of May date is designed to avoid proximity to other show dates.

June Gloom is refers to the overcast skies during June in southern California. One of the worst times of the year to visit SoCal if you want sunny days on the beach.

Thanks mojave.  When I go to the northern CA coasts they have June Gloom or rain 11 months out of the year.  I can't remember the last sunny day I spent at a beach.

Axpona has become my favorite show. I've done this show twice now and both times my room was full all weekend long.  When you step outside the room the hallways are packed.  Something I haven't seen at RMAF or Newport.  It's a bummer since the Newport Show is only a 45 minute drive for me:(

The market follows income distribution, so the bottom and top are doing ok but the mid-market, which should be the meat-and-bones of the industry, is not doing that well. Those who are considered middle class are downsizing and being much more careful with their money, which is smart because our economy and their economic prospects are not what they once were. It's sad, but until we fix the larger economic issues I don't see the mid market recovering anytime soon.

I recently read an article about Disney. They are now catering mainly to the rich because they say there are not enough middle class left to  support them.

Let's see....it's Thursday afternoon. Everybody should be running around with their heads cut off by now, frustrated with the Service elevators.

Hope everybody has a great time and looking forward to reports and photos soon.
