Vintage Thiel's
« on: 1 Aug 2011, 10:55 pm »
Greetings everyone! I own a pair of vintage Thiel CS 2.0. They are currently acting as stands for "stuff". I am thinking of picking up a pair of Thiel CS 1.2's and a Thiel center channel ... anyone have experience using Thiel's for home theater? I would match them up to a HSU sub. Curious what you folks think.
Thanks and hit them straight  :thumb:

I use Thiels in 2 of 4 systems I have, the main system and secondary bedroom system.  The speakers you mention are old in terms of drivers.  If you look around you can find info on them.  For example -

http://www.diyaudio.com/forums/multi-way/174006-crossover-thiel-cs-1-2-a.html

Are the original drivers still made?

In the main system (pic below) I have 3.7s as mains, MCS1 as a center, original Power Points as rears and an SCS2 rear center.

In the bedroom system, I have 3 SCS2s up front.  I use a Marantz SR6003 with a Bryston 3BST on the left and right channel.

Given the age (and depending on your room and budget), you might consider using them as rears and get 3 identical speakers up front (SCS2s or SCS3s?).
